I love this time of year. Not just because of the festivities but mostly because of the opportunity it presents for reflections and intentions. Yes, I am a sucker for goal setting!
In this crazy world the one thing that we have control over is our mindset and the ways in which we work to consciously create the life we love.
Even though goal setting is something you can do at any time, the last weeks of the year and the countdown to the next is a perfect time to slow down, internalize and take stock of your life. It is a perfect opportunity to temporarily step off the fast train and check if you are still going in the right direction.
And one way of doing that is by asking some powerful questions: where am I in the different areas in my life? What have I done this past year that made me happy and proud of myself? Which were the moments that brought me joy and how can I re-create more of these moments in the future? Where do I see myself going next year, what do I continue to work on and what can I let go of? Is what I am doing in alignment with my purpose and how can I move closer to my goals?
There are different ways to approach this process of conscious creation. I like to choose a word or a few words that reflect what I want to feel and concentrate on and although I am still immersed in the process of goal setting for 2017, let me share the words that look like they will make the cut this year:
Breakthrough
Breakthrough to me means reaching a new level of success, in any area of life. It means moving past personal beliefs and boundaries and stepping up to a whole new level of being. This is what I want to aim for in 2017: in my business, fitness level, and spirituality.
Focus
It is so darn easy to get distracted these days and get caught up in things that are not important. I am going to focus in 2017 on what is important and aligned with my higher purpose: people, activities, and a few key strategies instead of being all over the place. Which essentially means being fully present in what I set out to do, without (too many) distractions.
Joy
I want experience more joy or as Rick Hanson calls it: “more frequent little moments of intense positive emotion.” And in my mind this too requires being fully present and aware and in the moment and to catch the beauty of life as it exists all around us but which we mostly fail to notice. So a slowing down and seeking out bliss no matter what the circumstances.
Here are a few resources that I found inspiring and that might help you to find your own unique way to make this transition into a new year a conscious and creative one.
