Almond Butter

Homemade almond butter is delicious and healthy and a great alternative to store bought peanut butter that often has its share of additives and sugar. Eat it by the spoonful, add it to milkshakes, smoothies, or spread on top of crunchy apple slices for an easy protein rich snack.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups raw unsalted almonds
  • 1/8 tsp sea salt

Preparation:

  • Heat the oven to 175 degrees Celsius
  • Spread the almonds out on a large baking sheet
  • Roast for 10 – 12 minutes
  • Allow to cool and transfer to a food processor with the salt
  • Process the almonds: first it will turn into a flour-like consistency but as you continue processing the oil will be released and your almond flour will magically transform into a deliciously creamy nut butter

Some different flavors:

  • Vanilla Honey Almond Butter:

Scrape the insides of a vanilla bean and add along with 2 tsp of honey.

  • Maple Cinnamon Almond Butter:

Add 2 tsp maple syrup and 1 tsp cinnamon powder.
