Chocolate Tartlets

Chocolate TartletsA crunchy nut-based crust filled with a creamy chocolate ganache. No baking required, no dairy and no sugar involved. How is that for a guilt-free treat!

(gluten free, dairy free)

(makes 6)

Crust:

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup roasted almonds (unsalted)
  • ½ cup walnuts
  • 2 tbsp desiccated coconut
  • 6 dates, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp coconut oil
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp cinnamon

Preparation:

  • Line a muffin tray with 6 muffin papers
  • In a food processor, pulse the nuts until ground into a coarse meal
  • Add the other ingredients and pulse until it has turned into a sticky mixture
  • Spoon the mixture into the muffin papers, dividing equally and pressing it down firmly
  • Take a round glass object which is slightly smaller in circumference than the bottom of the muffin rounds (I used a glass spice bottle) and press into down into the center of the mixture. This will create a cup form with raised edges.

Filling:

Ingredients:

  • 6 dates (soaked in warm water for 1 hour and drained)
  • 1 large, ripe avocado
  • 1 heaped tbsp unsweetened cacao powder
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon powder
  • 1 tsp maple syrup
  • ½ tsp coconut oil
  • Pinch of salt

Preparation:

  • Place all ingredients in a food processor and blend until smooth
  • Spoon into the crusts
  • Cover and allow to chill in the freezer for one hour before serving
  • Top with shaved dark chocolate
