December, while it is a crazy month with all its festivities, preparations and travel, also brings with it a lovely opportunity for pause and reflection.
If all of you reading this were to share your reflections on this past year’s ups and downs, your celebrations and your challenges we would have a true reflection of what life looks like in general: a wild rollercoaster ride. One moment, there is pure joy and happiness and then, often without warning, you fall fast and deep and you find yourself struggling to make sense of it all.
The truth is that most of what happens to us is outside our control. All you can (and must) do is position yourself in such a way that you are better able to deal with the highs and lows on your journey.
And that is why health should always be a priority. Because if you have a strong and healthy body, a clear and balanced mind, confidence, self love; if you prioritise rest, relaxation, regular exercise, a healthy diet, have a sense of purpose and a spiritual connection you are going to be better positioned to enjoy life to the fullest and calmly navigate challenging events and emotions with strength and resilience and a sense of peace.
December may just be the perfect time to take stock.
It is also a month that can seriously challenge your priorities with the many opportunities to eat plenty, drink more, sleep less, sending you onto a slippery slope to weight gain, brain fog and dwindling energy levels.
Here are two ways to end the year on a strong & healthy note while fully enjoying the festive season:
Take stock with The Circle Of Life: download it here so you can plot out where you are in the different areas of life and to determine where to focus your attention.
Start a 30-day challenge: this could be in the form of an exercise routine (a daily walk, a yoga routine, working out in the gym), a daily mindfulness practice (breathing, meditation, a quiet contemplative walk, journaling), drinking a glass of green juice or smoothie every morning, intermittent fasting, a gratitude practice: anything that may be challenging but doable and will positively impact your physical and mental health.
Be Well.
